Port Latta fender replacement delivered in 47 days, 1.8 km offshore

Replacing 55-year-old fender infrastructure on an open-water dolphin at Port Latta, with the port fully operational throughout.

Grange Resources’ Port Latta terminal ships iron ore pellets from Tasmania’s north-west coast, and its berthing dolphins sit 1.8 kilometres from shore in open tidal water. BridgePro replaced the original fenders with a Trelleborg Super Cone system, working from a bespoke 36 m-leg jack-up barge with a 55-tonne crane.

About 22 cubic metres of concrete was delivered by helicopter in 76 lifts. The works were completed in 47 days with zero injuries, zero environmental incidents and zero rework.

“The works were completed to a very high standard and with an excellent safety performance. Grange Resources is extremely pleased with the outcome of this project and the professionalism shown by BridgePro Engineering.”
