Port Latta Dolphin Fender Replacement

Replacement of 55-year-old fender infrastructure 1.8 kilometres offshore in open tidal waters for Grange Resources, including a helicopter-assisted concrete delivery operation.

Port Latta Dolphin Fender Replacement

Winner of the 2026 Civil Contractors Federation Tasmania Earth Award (project value up to $2M).

The offshore dolphin fenders at Port Latta had served Grange Resources for 55 years. BridgePro replaced them with a Trelleborg Super Cone fender system, working 1.8 km from shore in open offshore conditions from a bespoke 36 m-leg jack-up barge with a 55-tonne crane.

About 22 m³ of concrete was delivered by helicopter in 76 lifts. The works were completed in 47 days with zero injuries, zero environmental incidents and zero rework, with the port fully operational throughout.

“The works were completed to a very high standard and with an excellent safety performance. Grange Resources is extremely pleased with the outcome of this project and the professionalism shown by BridgePro Engineering.”
