Innovation, passion and execution

We are proud to introduce you to one of our exceptional team members, Jarrod Thomas. As a highly skilled and motivated engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering (Co-Op), Jarrod has been an integral part of our family since the end of 2018, when he began his journey with us as a student engineer. Over these past 5 years, we have been thrilled to witness not only his remarkable growth and crucial input into our projects, but also his contribution to the engineering profession as a whole.

Jarrod serves as a dedicated Project Engineer, however his versatility extends far beyond his primary role – in the time he has been with us, he has gained valuable experience as a permanent and temporary works design engineer, as well as a project manager. This diverse background has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of aspects involved in engineering projects.

Just as his skills extend beyond his official role, Jarrod's passion for engineering extends beyond his professional responsibilities. He actively engages in exploring different structures, methods, materials, and equipment to enhance his knowledge and seek innovative solutions. This innovative thinking has had a transformative impact on BridgePro Engineering – through his self-guided research and learning, he introduced a game-changing 3D modelling approach to project methodologies. This shift towards 3D modelling has revolutionised our work processes, enabling us to deliver cutting-edge solutions to our clients and set new standards in the industry.

One of Jarrod's most notable achievements lies in the construction of the Devonport Berth 5 West Roll-on Roll-off Wharf Upgrade Project. His role as the Project Engineer, Designer, and Project Manager saw him lead this significant upgrade – through his keen attention to detail and continuous adaptation, Jarrod ensured that the project met the needs of clients and stakeholders, as well as the environment. His engineering prowess resulted in a hugely successful project that not only exceeded all expectations, but improves shipping operations and plays a vital role in contributing to Tasmania's economic growth.

Environmental consideration at the forefront of his work

Environmental sustainability lies at the core of Jarrod's engineering ethos. His focus on sustainability best practices is evident in his approach to project design and execution. By utilising existing, on-hand materials for the Devonport Berth 5 West Wharf project, Jarrod minimised resource consumption and reduced environmental impacts associated with material extraction and production. Additionally, he designed an automated drawbridge over a gas pipeline, ensuring pipeline inspections during gas import operations proceeded without disrupting operations. These innovative solutions showcase Jarrod's commitment to leaving a positive impact on our environment, for future generations.

If you’re not impressed enough already with Jarrod’s initiative and innovative approach to his work, there’s more… He regularly gives back to the engineering community by mentoring and guiding future engineers, and sharing his knowledge and experiences to inspire the next generation. Having been a student engineer at BridgePro himself, Jarrod understands the value of hands-on experience, leading him to foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the engineering community. His willingness to invest time and effort in mentoring activities reflects his passion for engineering and its advancement.

Jarrod embodies the essence of BridgePro’s values and commitment to excellence in engineering. His contributions to our team and the engineering community as a whole have been nothing short of exemplary. We feel honored to have Jarrod as part of our BridgePro team, shaping the future of engineering and leaving a legacy of excellence. His passion, dedication, and innovative mindset inspire us all to reach new heights and continue to push the boundaries of what engineering can achieve. As we look ahead, we are excited to see the continued impact Jarrod will make in the engineering profession and beyond.
