King Island RoRo Wharf Devonport Berth 5 West

Concept, design and construction of a new RoRo ramp and fender structure within three months of engagement, moving the King Island freight service from Bell Bay to Devonport.

King Island RoRo Wharf Devonport Berth 5 West

Winner of the 2022 Civil Contractors Federation Tasmania Earth Award.

Engaged by TasPorts as an urgent delivery partner, BridgePro developed the concept for, designed and constructed a new RoRo wharf for the King Island freight vessel John Duigan: a 20 m x 12 m suspended concrete ramp on 46 piles to 20 m depth, with a drawbridge over a high-pressure gas pipeline.

With 5 m of silt on site, the design was changed from rock fill to a piled wharf, and the ramp went from engagement to completion in three months.

Key figures: $1.6M contract value, 3 months concept to completion, 46 piles to 20 m, 2022 CCF Earth Award.
